Tsukasa - a strange kid that wanders around in the world. He has a bad habit of neglecting to pay his cell phone bill, a cause for danger to himself and others. He enjoys screwing around with Mimiru by sharing his nasty thoughts. Some say Tsukasa has a scat fetish.

Subaru – an administrator of The World; soon into the series, she gets hacked. From then on, she begins to act strange. For awhile, she can only say the word papaya, (hence her nickname: the papaya girl). Her vocabulary eventually redevelops, but some effects of the hacked-ness remain.

Mimiru – the typical teenage fangirl that enjoys playing The World and roleplaying. Aside from her obsession with asking people for tickets, she is possibly one of the more normal players. She is good friends with Bear and enjoys talking with him about life in general. Her crush on Tsukasa often leads her to do things she wouldn’t normally do.

Bear: - an experienced British man that enjoys talking and playing The World. He tries to stay upbeat, even though his life outside of the game may be in a bit of a slump. He can easily be aggravated. His addiction to The World is cause for some odd habits of his. He shares an apartment with BT.

BT – BT is one-of-a-kind. Her deep voice and tendency to break out in song says it all. It may be easiest to read her myspace page. http://www.myspace.com/bt_hacksign

Sora – one of the highest level characters in The World. He can often be seen jumping around from place to place, intimidating other players with his raspy voice, or stalking people.

Silver Knight – another administrator of The World that spends most of his time stalking Subaru. His crush on her remains despite her hacked condition. A certain battle in episode 1 is the cause for his chronic cough.

Crim – a very upbeat player that enjoys dancing and paper mache. He plays the game for fun and is very social, even though many of his friends are a bit odd.

Macha – a cat-like creature that often speaks in a combination of l33t and English. He used to be Tsukasa’s best friend back in the day, but often feels neglected now that Tsukasa has met new friends. A hidden temper may be hidden under his attempts at maintaining this friendship.
